A digital projection exploring the forestry industry’s impact on the landscape along West Coast Road in Sooke, BC.
When driving along West Coast Road I am routinely mesmerized by the large trees whipping by, light peeking through their branches, and anticipate the moments when the forest suddenly breaks way to expansive views of the sky over the ocean, valleys and clear cuts. I spot trees marked for execution, ponder the ratio of stumps to saplings, and watch plastic patterns vibrate on the neon fences as they pass. I hope to see wildlife. The visuals of the forestry industry stir my soul and stimulate my mind. Beautiful and sad, I thank the trees for their sacrifice.
