“British Columbia” is a name that reinforces colonial policies in order to occupy land and assert economic and political control over Indigenous communities.
This piece was inspired by, and created in solidarity with the #RenameBC and #Landback movements. Ashleigh is an artist working on the unceded and ancestral territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) and səlilwətaɬ/selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
